Citizen and journalist collective. An investigative platform where truth is documented, verifiable, transparent.
An investigation can take ten years. Over those ten years, pieces come out one by one, contradicted, forgotten, rediscovered. No press format is designed for that timescale — an article freezes the moment, then drops off the feed.
Ombrys is built for duration. Each case is a living object: sources get added, contradictions noted, hypotheses recorded as they fall or hold. The reader sees the current state of the investigation, but also its history — who wrote what, when, citing which document.
Data model: not an editorial CMS, a directed graph. Sources, facts, hypotheses, contradictions are typed nodes. Every edge is traced to a specific document (date, page, author). The graph is queryable publicly; editors publish "views" of the graph as narrative articles.
The site is built on Next.js, the structured content lives in Sanity (with strong versioning). Every public citation is a permalink to the original document; any source retraction is logged and remains visible. The goal: a sceptical reader can trace every claim back to a PDF they can read.
